Every spot has its own unique flavors and this place does not disappoint. Service is very swift. Ambiance is wide and open. I had the carne asada torta with a hot sauce on the side. The hot sauce is authentic and very promising. My friend ordered the beef taquitos plate with rice and beans and she enjoyed it as well. For the drinks we had the aguas frescas I chose a freshly made horchata and my friend chose the lime with cucumber with chia seed. Please contribute by trying this place out. If you want a great tasting Mexican dish and delicious aguas frescas. Make sure to swing by. We will be back again soon.
Go-to gordita spot! Their tortas are yummy too, but the gorditas are cheap and delicious for a quick small lunch.
The salsa verde gorditas are yummmmae! They also sell meat by the pound, especially when El Taquito up the way runs out.
I tried some of their tacos and it was super good but most of all, I love their Agua Fresca, I always get the lime cucumber drink. I drove through Huntington drive for so many years a finally tried it out! definitely recommend
Holy Gordita!!! First time at La Cocina... Don't be fooled by the humble exterior... This place has been slinging some of the best Mexican food in North East Los Angeles for over 40 years!!! I ask the lady at the counter what the specialties are... "we are known for the gorditas - they're really popular" You don't say.... BEST DAMN GORDITA EV-ER I got the Carne Asada ... but the Masa !!! THE MASA - all done by hand right in front of you... it's all about the flavor of that MASITA!!! Yes THANK YOU !!! COME AGAIN!!!! EXTREMEEEE HAROLD AND KUMAR would of stopped dreaming about WHITE CASTLE once they glimpsed any notion of LA COCINA's EXISTENCE!!! Hey that gives me an idea for a new cologne brand name - EXIST - ENCE !!! On the bottle we're gonna put the smells of this place inside and a guy with a Michoacán hat for the promos - HOT DAMN!!! Once you know this place EXISTS ITS GONNA GROW ON YOU... they not only have the best Gorditas on ERF!!! They got so much more... But I'm not a Chivato ... so I'm not gonna tell you everything... We visited this location with a few pals on the recommendation of one of them. We ordered a Barbacoa burrito with everything in it and Gorditas with different meat options. The meal was good and authentic but wasn't special. The restaurant itself needs updating as they have cafeteria seating for their customers. Probably why we were the only ones sitting at the restaurant. The employees were kind, patient and helpful. If I were to go back, it would be for take-out. If you're in the area and want authentic Mexican food at a reasonable price, I'd suggest it.
